All politicians are equal - not!
My wife gets upset with me when we discuss politicians. I forcefully state my strong dislike for the Republicans in congress with a few exceptions. She counters with how can I be so naive to believe that the Democrats are any better. I get her point and might agree if there wasn't objective evidence to support my admittedly biased point of view.
I appreciate the fact that politicians - particularly during the midst of a campaign for the Presidency - are expected to 'stretch' the truth in the service of swaying votes in their favor. In this connection it is true that President Obama has not been able to follow through on his promise for a flourishing economy.
But really - when listening to Presidential contender Mitt Romney - issue unvarnished lies day after day - I can conclude nothing else but don't even consider voting for him. The man completely fails my test of trustworthiness. My test of trust is that I say what I mean and I mean what I say. I expect no less from anyone with whom I am relating.
Words are cheap - the test of trust is whether what is asserted is backed up by objective facts. On cannot be half pregnant.
Segue to the following assertion touted by Mitt Romney on a daily basis. "Speaking at a metalworking factory in Cincinnati last week, Romney cited his experience as a businessman, saying he knows what it would take to bring employers back to the United States. “For me it’s all about good jobs for the American people and a bright and prosperous future,” he said."
Romney wants the electorate to believe that he not President Obama is the champion job creator. He cites his vast hands on experience as the CEO of Bain. The only problem with his assertion of Mr. Job Creator is the fact that it doesn't match the facts.
The facts are: "durring the nearly 15 years that Romney was actively involved in running Bain, a private equity firm that he founded, it owned companies that were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States to overseas call centers and factories making computer components, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange"
This means that Romney was indeed a job creator but more for companies over seas which paid no income tax to the U.S. government. This means he was more of a job destroyer than an American job creator.
When he is directly confronted by these contradictory facts he typically feints and ducks. He slides back to his mantra of "just trust me."
This contender for the most important job in the world in my not to humble opinion is a walking contradiction. This observation leads to two equally as alarming and potentially dire conclusions. (1) Either the man has no inner cohesive self so it matters little to him whether he flip flops or not - so that political expediency governs his day to day assertions. Or, (2) he knows every step of the way which way his calculated responses might be expected to shift the undecided votes his way. Thus his apparent fickleness is a reflection of his true lack of a core self; or his apparent fickleness is a calculated strategy to be all things to all people hoping his 'good guy' charm will win the Presidential popularity contest.
Shades of 8th grade consciousness.
My conclusion: my voting for Romney for President is not even a remote consideration. And my private opinion is how could any objective voter override these disqualifying facts.
I welcome any and all contrary opinions with the one caveat that you address the facts not simply your feelings.
After reading your blog, I felt you write very easy to understand, very emotional, I hope I can see you again works!
