Just a few short weeks ago the President and his party seemed down and out. The Republicans and the so called conservatives were full of themselves utterly convinced the President and his party was on the ropes- almost knocked senseless. The Health Bill appeared doomed and with it the likely death knell of the entire presidency. To a 'man' the entire party of NO - thought themselves brilliant by remaining firmly committed to a calculated transparent strategy of preventing the President and his party from scoring a major victory. And indeed - up until very recently - like tonight - two days short of the big vote - it appeared as if their cynical, political -in the worst and lowest form of that concept - was on the winning track. Indeed it most likely would have been the sad outcome if but for one major miscalculation: the whole obnoxious affair roused President Obama to fully assume the role of inspired leadership that initially resulted in his amazing election.
For those who have not seen the President at his best I strongly suggest you turn on CNN and watch and listen to him weigh in on the health reform struggle. If you have any doubt about his leadership style I invite you to compare him to lets say Representative Boehner or any of the other boring, one dimensional, partisan, totally lacking vision and good will members of the party of NO.
The President reminds me of Harry Truman on the eve of the Presidential election when the polls had him down and out - predicted to be humiliated by Dewey. But the media misjudged the fiery passionate common good sense that President Truman had in reserve that was awakened when the chips were down and his character was tested.
I predict a similar outcome for President Obama, his party, and for the general good and welfare of all of the people.
