  A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE NOMINATION

Just as it has appeared that the Democratic problem was to make the best choice between 3 excellent candidates it appears that the party may implode. Everyone agrees that race and gender are notable factors but should not be used devisively for obvious reasons. Yet that is exactly what is transpiring as we speak.

If the sniping, innuendo and throwing political spit balls continues it runs the risk of turning off large groups of probable voters that should have been solidly united in back of the leader who demonstrates the best capacity for leadership.

THE STATE of the ECONOMY: IS IT GOOD or BAD?

                              TIMING IS EVERYTHING 

Ok - so the war in Iraq probably will not be the key issue in the up coming presidential election. So what will be? With the possible exception of immigration it strongly appears that the perception of the state of the economy will dominate the voter's attention.

OBAMA, HILLARY, and CHARACTER

                              NO ONE IS PERFECT

Ok lets get it straight from the start. I relish the fact that the probability of throwing the bums out of office in the up coming presidential election is quite high. Good for my side and I firmly believe good for all of our sides.

But hold on, you might say, aren't all politicians graduates of the same school when push comes to shove? To win don't you have to pander, manipulate, flip flop, attack even when you well know what you are attacking is often petty, half truthful, exaggerated and sometimes out right untrue?

THE OBAMA PHENOMENON: THE WAR ON TERROR AND THE TERRIBLE

I confess: - for years I have felt increasingly dispirited about America. Hardly a day has gone by when there hasn't been news stories about greed, corruption, scandals, insensitivity, twisted logic, abuses of authority, "lying mendacity", cynicism, dirty tricks, torture, hypocrisy, dumbing down, bad taste, capitulating to the lowest common denominators, collective denial, thinly veiled rationalizations for justifying the worst of who and what we are; short sightedness, over simplifications and over generalizations failing to do justice to the obvious complexities facing us; crisis intervention often poorly executed instead of visionary planning and thoughtful discussion of possibilities; mis-appropriations of limited men and treasure; wastefulness; the negative consequences of the combined abuses of the military industrial complex, pharmaceutical cartel, oil industry, medical for profit insurance powerhouses and others,  to name a few decidely and undeniable negative and disheartening facts about living in America in 2008.

THE TOUCH OF BRILLIANCE: OBAMA'S VICTORY SPEECH

               SHADES OF JFK and ROBERT KENNEDY

For those who have doubts about Senator Obama's capacity for leadership, capacity for learning, capacity for inspiring I urge you to listen carefully or read carefully his victory speech from Iowa.

Better you look for yourself rather than me try to summarize it. This man will be hard to beat, particulalry if he captures New Hampshire in the next five days.

Watch carefully world there is a new, and better America dawning.

There has been much to fret about when viewing recent American history. There has been a incessant stream of negative news appearing daily since the innauguration of the Bush administration. This does not mean that the Democrats have not had their share of bad input.
